In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. And arts and crafts.
Girlhammer brings women (plus some dudes) into sci-fi’s most awful, depressing, and exhilarating universe
Follow the painting journeys of Sister Superior Haley Berkoe (not pictured) and her tech servitor Ken Ziegler as they get to know Warhammer 40,000’s craftier side in the form of semi-monthly group painting sessions aimed at bringing more women into the hobby. Join them and other survivors of history worst’s millennium each week as they encourage more women to take notice of the craftiest and most meditative hobby there is.
It only seems like a guy thing. It’s not.
When you think of Warhammer 40,000 (or “40K”), you probably think of the tabletop or video game your boyfriend is really into or is considering getting into. But it has as much to offer women as men. Maybe more.
Like Game of Thrones or… ick, Star Wars, it is an entire universe comprising hundreds of novels, thousands of characters, games, conventions, tournaments, you name it. Really, name it. Whatever it is, it’s in there alongside the absolute hardest women ever depicted in fiction.
And the best part? You don’t need to know anything about the world of 40K to get started. As the saying goes, “There’s no wrong way to get into Warhammer.” All you need is some clippers, glue, paint, brushes, a model or two, and righteous, unyielding devotion to the Femnissiah.
