In the grim darkness of the 42nd Millennium, there is only war. And arts and crafts.

Girlhammer brings women into sci-fi’s most awful, depressing, and exhilarating universe

Follow the podcasting journey of Sister Superior Haley Berkoe (not pictured) and her tech servitor Ken Ziegler as they get to know Warhammer 40,000, from the lore and painting to the tabletop and beyond. Join them and a different survivor of history worst’s millennium each week as they discuss why more women should be taking notice of the craftiest and most meditative hobby there is.

It only seems like a dude thing. It’s not.

When you think of Warhammer 40,000 (or “40K”), you probably think of the tabletop or video game your boyfriend is really into or is considering getting into. But it has as much to offer women as men. Maybe more.

Like Game of Thrones or… eck, Star Wars, it is an entire universe comprising hundreds of novels, thousands of characters, games, conventions, tournaments, you name it. Really, name it. Whatever it is, it’s in there alongside the absolute hardest women ever depicted in fiction. And it’s one more space where women are poised to be as good or better than men.

And the best part? You don’t need to know anything about the world of 40K to get started. In fact, all you need to do is pick out something you think is cool (a model, a book, some art you saw online) and there’s your starting point. As the saying goes, “There’s no wrong way to get into Warhammer.” All you need is some clippers, glue, paint, brushes, and righteous, unyielding devotion to the Femnissiah.
